Repeat Prescriptions

Please Note: If you have been using the website to order your repeat prescriptions, you will now need to register with Patient Access Or the NHS APP. Once registered, you will need to come to the surgery with a photo ID and you will be given a PIN. This is for reasons of security and safety.  If you prefer, you can come straight to the surgery with your ID and collect your PIN and then register with Patient access.

To request a repeat prescription for medication you receive regularly, bring your request using your computer generic prescription side sheet to the surgery during opening times, or post to the surgery with a stamped addressed envelope or the request can be handed to reception or place in the repeat medication box or post into the secure letter box 24 hrs/day or send a request via surgery email at

Please allow 48 hours, excluding weekends and Bank Holidays, for your request to be processed. Any problems please telephone the surgery.

Please do not ask reception staff to prepare the prescription for you on the spot. The doctors need to check your record before signing the prescription.

Telephone requests will only be accepted from housebound patients. If you are housebound please telephone the surgery between 08:00 -13:30 and 14:30 – 18:30 to order your repeat medication.

Please note, the contraceptive pill cannot be processed as an ordinary repeat medication. You must make an appointment to see the nurse before a prescription can be issued. Please ensure that you leave sufficient time before you run out of your pill to make an appointment to see the nurse.

NHS Electronic Prescription Service (EPS)  

This NHS service is being rolled out across England to help improve the efficiency, safety and convenience of the prescribing process for patients. Barretts Grove Surgery  has "gone live with EPS.

You may already have been offered the option by your GP or pharmacy to have your prescription sent electronically to the pharmacy of your choice.

Pregnancy Test Kits

Please note that we do not provide Pregnancy Test kits at the surgery. Should a pregnancy test be medically necessary, this will be provided during the course of the consultation with your doctor.

Pregnancy Test kits can be purchased over the counter at all pharmacies.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.

Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
